Cali Faye Collection’s Gardenia Dress

I was sooooooo lucky to be a tester for the newest women’s pattern, Gardenia Dress from Cali Faye Collection!!

Do you know Cali Faye Collection? If not, you need to check it out. It’s an Indie sewing pattern brand and has very stylish collection for women and girls. I had made one of its pattern, Perri Pullover (for me) and you can read about it here.

I knew it was hard to be chosen cause there were so many entries for testing, so I didn’t expect to be chosen much. I felt like, “WHAAAT!?” when I knew that I was chosen πŸ™‚

If I wasn’t chosen, I just would buy this pattern. You know, this is so cute and comfy.

Testing wasΒ really fun for me. Sarah (the designer of Cali Faye Collection) was so nice and I was so happy to work for her.

This dress is for knit fabric and I used this grey Quilt knit from my shop. It might be a bit too thick but I loveloveloved the result.

The dress doesn’t have any opening for the buttons or the zippers, so you don’t need to worry about the buttonholes and installing the zipper! The neck opening is finished with the woven binding and I loved that way to finish there.

I adjust the length and Sarah made some adjustments after testing. I might need shortening the length still though, cause I’m too short (5 feet, again). But it’s easy to do and I don’t care that small work to get this cute look.

Looks great Shino! Comfy and stylish, and those pockets look useful too.

Shino! I love your version of the gardenia dress! I was also so interested to learn more about how you sewed it up bc I too, am short…just like you, 5 feet. Well actually 4’3/4″. Ha ha ha. But, I’m kinda curvy for my shortness. Ha ha ha. How much did you have to shorten the dress? Did you shorten at the bodice only or at the hem as well? Did you shorten sleeves too? Thanks! And great job! πŸ™‚

Thanks so much, short-y friend πŸ™‚ I shortened the whole length 7cm, 2cm from the bodice and 5cm from the skirt. I shortened the sleeves too but not sure how much.. you can adjust as you like, I think. But Sarah made adjustment for the sizing after testing, so be sure to check the size chart before you make adjustment πŸ˜‰
