Victoria Blazer for Selfish Sewing Week

So, as you see, I’ve been pattern testing like crazy lately (and still working on two pattern testing right now…), I made a tunic, a peplum top, a rain poncho and a rain jacket for my girls! So. Obviously, it’s time to sew for myself.

And this week is Selfish Sewing Week over at Imagine Gnats. It is the perfect timing for me! Aaaaand I finished this BLAZER for me!

I got this pattern, Victoria Blazer from By Hand London a while ago. I’ve seen some amazing versions and really wanted to make mine but couldn’t find the perfect fabric for the outer. I wanted to use floral one (YES. I LOVE FLORAL FABRIC) and thought the linen would be nice but couldn’t find good one.

And I met this fabric on Imagine Gnats’ fabric shop. Isn’t it gorgeous? It’s called “cotton hemp” and I thought it might be bit stiff but it is NOT! Maybe before prewashing this, it was bit stiff, but after prewash it got so soft.

I first thought about using salmon pink fabric for the lining and even ordered salmon pink voile to use for the lining. But I couldn’t wait for arriving that fabric and tried using this shot cotton which was in my stash for long. And what do you think? I love this combination!

I shortened the lengths of the sleeves and the jacket itself. I should have change the pocket placement because there is not enough room below the pocket as you see in the above picture.

It was not so hard to sew up this jacket cause there is a visual tutorial on the blog of By Hand London for sew-along. Without it, it might be bit difficult for me to finish.

Anyway, I’m so satisfied with the result. I wanted a light jacket suitable for late spring weather and this is the perfect one. Now I’m thinking about making another one in ponte roma knit and maybe in border print… till then, I will totally enjoy this one.

And I decided to join Me-Made-May 2014. I noticed recently that I haven’t worn me-made-clothes so much though I’ve been sewing some. So it must be a good challenge for me to wear at least one me-made-garment everyday!
